Special thanks to Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Leon for a lovely Christmas Program this year. To make school fun during the final push for second quarter, we will be having Spirit Days for the next two weeks. You can find the Spirit Days on the calendar, or listed below. Red Communication Folders: The office is sending home paperwork today, so please check your child's red communication folders. Scrip Cards: Natalie Smith, Scrip Coordinator, will be placing orders soon for Scrip cards. Would you like us to come Caroling at your home that Friday evening? We can just come to sing or you can also host our group with some goodies to keep us going till midnight! The STUCO students were able to fill 33 Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes! They exceeded their goal by 8 boxes!!! Thank you to each of you for making a difference in the lives of 33 children all around the globe. May you and your families be blessed this Thanksgiving season. Next week will be a short, but busy, week at school. Our K-8th grade students have been busy preparing for their performances at the Thanksgiving Feast. With winter quickly approaching, please be reminded that in the event of inclement weather administration will send out a One Call letting families know if school is cancelled. It is the responsibility of each family to access each of their students' teacher's blog pages to get the day's homework assignments. Teachers plan to post all assignments by 10 a.m., however, with increased activity on the website, occasionally things can be slow to upload. If your child's teacher has not posted by 10 a.m. please check again. All homework is due the day classes resume. Glass Entry Doors: Maplewood has asked that we not put any signage on the glass
doors to the ROC or CEL. If you would
like something posted on a bulletin board, please bring it to the office for
approval from administration. Policy #5205: As a reminder, please note that if a student arrives to school after 8:10 or arrives to class three minutes late, they are considered tardy. It seems like school just started, and here we are in second quarter already. Before we know it, we'll be on Christmas break! It is my prayer that each of you, and your families, are having a fall of bountiful blessings. There are so many wonderful things happening here at ACS. Our students and teachers have gotten into a steady routine and there are lots of smiling faces throughout both buildings. I am ever thankful for Applewood Christian School! We will recognize honor roll students on Friday, November 2 during opening. Feel free to join us during this time. Soccer Nationals: Today - Our soccer boys are at National's today in Springfield! They won their first game, and lost the second yesterday. We are cheering them on from afar. Go Mustangs! A reminder that all homework is due on Monday, October 29. Alumni Soccer & Volleyball Games: Tomorrow - The Athletic Committee will be hosting the alumni soccer game at 4 pm on the soccer field behind the ROC gym and the alumni volleyball game in the ROC gym at 6 pm. Following the soccer game, there will be a potluck meal shared. Athletic Committee is providing hotdogs and drinks for the event. Please bring a dish to share. Help us spread the word by letting any alumni families know about the event! Kick-Off Forms: Monday, September 17 is the final day for all forms to be turned in. Mrs. Otten is missing several forms from multiple families. The most commonly missed form is the Handbook Signature form. If you are uncertain whether or not you have missing forms please reach out to the office. Summer is quickly wrapping up. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer. We have been working in the office to prepare for the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, our school phone line is still down. The school board has approved for the installation of a new phone service. Once it is up and running, I will let you know. The plan is for it to be back in service by the first day of school. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to us through email or on our cell phones. I am looking forward to another great year! Teacher Needs 2018/2019- We are in need of a teacher for 8th grade Physical Science, 9th grade Themes in Literature and Spanish I, 10th grade World Literature, 11th American Literature, and high school P.E. Please join us in prayer as we seek God's perfect will for our school and our students. If you, or someone you know, are interested in teaching please contact Mrs. Greer or I. Substitute Teachers 2018/2019- Mrs. Greer has been busy putting together a substitute teacher list for the upcoming school year. If you would like to be added to our sub list, please email the school. School Supply List- Mrs. Otten emailed the updated school supply lists a couple weeks ago. Please remember to put your student's name on all of their belongings. Also, when bringing in things like paper towels, Anywhere spray, Expo spray, etc. please write your last name and 2018 on each item. Labeling items in this way helps to keep an accurate inventory on what we use each year. One Call List - I have added new families to our One Call list and updated other families contact information. If you are not signed up and would like to receive text messages through One Call, please test the word 'Alert' to 22300. Fall Sports- Soccer and volleyball practices are well underway! All sports fees need to be paid to the coach before the first game. Sports fees are as follows: ACS athletes - $70, home school athletes - $80 (*please note: soccer athletes have an additional fee of $12 for socks). The soccer boys have their first home game Friday, August 24 at 5 p.m. at the Paul Clover soccer field. The volleyball girls have a home tri-match on Friday, August 24 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the ROC gym. Come out and cheer on our mighty Mustangs! Basketball Intent- If your student is interested in playing junior high or high school basketball this year please contact our Athletic Director, Scott Young. Parent Jobs- Thank you for being patient as we updated our Parent Jobs list. If you have not signed up for your jobs please do so now. Jobs are going fast! Once all families have signed up, we will open up the remaining jobs for those interested in serving in additional areas. Thank you for working tirelessly with us to provide such wonderful opportunities for our students! Hot Lunch Coordinator- At this time, we do not have a Hot Lunch Coordinator for the upcoming school. If this position is not filled, we will not be offering hot lunches on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you are interested in knowing more about this position, please contact the school for more information. The person doing this job would be overseeing the planning, preparing, and serving of meals alongside the senior class. Family Club Treasurer- Our Family Club is looking for a treasurer. If you are interested, please contact Jennifer Bessert, Family Club President. New Family Orientation- August 23rd @ 5:30 p.m. - All new families are encouraged to attend. Back to School Family Party- August 23rd @ 6:30 p.m. out by the playground. Family Club is sponsoring a Back to School Party to give everyone an opportunity to meet new families and catch up with returning families. We hope to see you there! Kick-Off- August 30th @ 6:30 p.m. in the ROC gym. It is very important that ALL families plan to be in attendance. We continue to work hard to ensure all forms are completed and all information given in a timely manner so families don't feel like they're here all night.
