Verse of the Day: Do not judge, and you will not be judged.  Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.  Forgive, and you will be forgiven.  Luke 6:37

I hope each of you had a restful Thanksgiving break!  It's hard to believe we will be off for Christmas break in just two weeks, and the school year will be half over!  To make school fun during the final push for second quarter, we will be having Spirit Days for the next two weeks.  You can find the Spirit Days on the calendar, or listed below.

Red Communication Folders: The office is sending home paperwork today, so please check your child's red communication folders.

Scrip Cards: Natalie Smith, Scrip Coordinator, will be placing orders soon for Scrip cards.  If you are in need of cards before break starts, please bring your order into the office or contact Natalie directly.  There are a lot of great rebates going on for the holidays.

Spirit Days: Monday, December 3 - Favorite Sports Team - wear the gear and colors of your favorite sports team!  Wednesday, December 5 - Wild Socks Day - wear your favorite socks to school!  Friday, December 7 - Crazy Hat Day - wear your favorite hat to school!  Monday, December 10 - Pajama Day - wear your favorite jammies and slippers to school!  Wednesday, December 12 - Ugly Sweater Day - wear your favorite "ugly" Christmas sweater to school.

A+ Homework Help: December 5 - 3:15 to 4:15 pm - A+ students will be offering homework help only on Wednesday, December 5th this month.  Interested K-8th grade families need to get in touch with Mrs. Mabry to sign up.

Christmas Program Dress Rehearsals: Friday, December 7 & Monday, December 10 from 3:30 to 5 - Elementary and Junior High students will be having dress rehearsal in the Sanctuary.  Administration will oversee the students after school until Mrs. Scott is ready to begin.  Parents can pick their students up in the Sanctuary at 5.

Spanish Caroling: Friday, December 7 from 7pm to midnight - Grades 9th-12th - Our past and present Spanish class students will begin their annual “parranda,” Christmas  caroling with a Puerto Rican twist.  The students learn Christmas songs in Spanish and sing their hearts out from home to home for one evening. The tradition in Puerto Rico begins right after Thanksgiving. Carolers will sing accompanied by musicians and go from home to home till the morning. The twist in Puerto Rican culture is that the ones who receive the surprise mini-concert open up their home and welcome the singers inside to enjoy warm or cold refreshments and appetizers!  Would you like us to come Caroling at your home that Friday evening? We can just come to sing or you can also host our group with some goodies to keep us going till midnight! Let Mrs. Leon (660-473-2503) know if you would like us to come to your home and if you want us to sing or to sing and eat! First come, first served, so contact Mrs. Leon quickly. We can only accommodate 7-8 homes!  Mrs. Leon needs to know by Wednesday, December 5th.

Christmas Program: Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary - Make plans now to this blessed evening.  Our elementary and junior high students will be performing.  Refreshments will be served in the CEL Awana Room following the program.

Christmas Gift Exchange -  Students drew names during the Thanksgiving Feast day at school.  If you need to know who your student has, the lists are kept in the office.  In an effort to ensure that these gifts are not a burden to families, we ask that each student adhere to the following spending caps: Elementary (grades K - 5) $3.00 - $5.00, JH (grades 6 - 8) $5.00 - $7.00, HS (grades 9 - 12) $7.00 - $10.00.  It's always encouraging when we have the opportunity to witness our students being both gracious givers and receivers during our gift exchange.  Gifts are asked to be brought to the school by Wednesday, December 12th to ensure no one forgets theirs in the busyness of getting ready the morning of party day.  Students will exchange gifts with one another on December 14th.

Christmas Party Day: Friday, December 14 - Students will be released at 11:30 following clean up.  As part of our party day, we ask everyone to bring a snack to share.  If you are in grades K-5, please bring a healthy and a sweet snack to share.   If you are in grades 6th-12th, please bring the following: Last name beginning with A-L bring a healthy snack, M-Z bring a sweet snack.  Students will exchange gifts that day, play games, do crafts, and hang out with their classmates.  All parents are welcome to join us!

2nd Quarter Ends: Friday, December 14 - Grade cards will go home when we return from Christmas break.

STUCO Christmas Party: Friday, December 14 from 6 to 10 at the Mabry's house - All high school students are invited to attend.  Each student is asked to bring a gender-neutral white elephant gift and their snack to share.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Mabry, STUCO Advisor.
