    Senior Fundraiser: April 13 - Fish Fry @ Smithton Diner from 4 pm to 8 pm.  

    Iowa Basic Testing: April 15-16 - During Iowa Basic testing, students attend school ONLY on Monday and Tuesday that week.  There will be no homework that week.  Sophomores and juniors will be doing all of their Iowa Basic testing on Monday, from 8:15-1.  Kindergarten and 1st grade will do their Iowa Basic testing during regular school times.  K-1st will not attend Iowa Basic testing.  Students need to be at school no later than 8:15.  Testing will begin promptly at 8:30.  It is important that students get a restful night's sleep and a healthy, substantial breakfast before testing.  Students will need to bring two #2 pencils, an eraser, snack, water bottle, and a book to read should they finish a test early.       

    Senior's CPR training: April 15 - Seniors need to be at the Pettis County Health Center at 10 am.  CPR training is required for graduation. 

    School Board Meeting: April 15 @ 6:30 pm 

    Easter Break: April 17-23 - Classes resume at 8 am on Wednesday, April 24.  There will be no bulletin on Friday, April 19.   

    Drama Production: April 26 @ 7 pm & April 27 @ 2 pm & 7 pm - Mark your calendars now for the ACS Drama Production.  Tickets are available for purchase in the office or from any student that is participating in the production.  Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, and children ages 0-4 are $3 each.  This year's production is called "Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch".  It is a western melodrama.... "Ah, Shakespeare in the Old West!"  The students and Mrs. Leon are already busily preparing.  It's sure to be an evening of fun!

    Seniors' Last Day of School: May 1 @ 11:30 - We will do a senior send-off during lunch.  Parents are welcome to attend!

    Senior Graduation: May 4 @ 2 pm in the ROC - All families are invited to attend.

    Kindergarten Graduation: May 8 @ 2:30 pm in the Sanctuary - All families are invited to attend!  All students will attend the graduation during their last class of the day.  Pick up will be at 3, as usual.  Students and families are invited to attend a reception in the Awana room following the graduation.  

    Last Day of School: 1/2 day May 10 - We will have our school-wide clean up that day for students (grades 1-11) so please wear clothes that can get dirty.  Students will be dismissed at 11:15

    Book Turn In & Grade Card Pick-Up: May 15 from 9 to noon in the ROC - Grade cards will not be released until all books are returned and all fees are paid including tuition, book fees, and Scrip fees.

    September Tuition - due by June 10th - this payment holds your child's spot in the class for the 2019/2020 school year.  Tuition is as follows per month:  1 Student $220, 2 Students $395, 3 Students $570, 4 Students $745.  Any September tuition paid after June 10th will have a $10 late fee applied.

    Family Club: In May, Family Club will be electing new officers for the positions of President and Secretary.  These volunteer positions earn 5 parent points each.  If you are interested in knowing more information or would like to be considered for the position, please reach out to the office or current Family Club President, Jennifer Bessert.  

    Scrip Earnings: Just a quick reminder, that the scrip earnings cut off is April 30.  Each family is required to earn $50 in scrip for Family Club.  If you prefer not to participate in scrip, you can choose the buyout option.  If you choose the buyout option, plan to pay the $50 to ACS Family Club no later than May 10.  If you have any questions regarding your scrip earnings, reach out to Natalie Smith, Scrip Coordinator. 

    Yearbook Pictures: Ms. Ehlert's yearbook class is asking for any snapshots that you may have from throughout the school year.  Photos can be emailed to the school or brought in to be scanned.

    4th Quarter Mid-Term: TODAY - Mid-terms will be sent home next week.  

    Junior/Senior Prom: April 6 - Juniors and seniors are invited to attend the 1920's Under the Stars prom at the Celebration Center on April 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm.  Attendees will meet at the Sedalia Courthouse at 4 pm for photos.  

    Dan Meers (a.k.a. "KC Wolf"): April 7 @ 6pm in the Northwest High School Gym - Hopewell Baptist Church is sponsoring a FREE community event.  Dan Meers is well known as the Chief's Mascot, "KC Wolf", but he is also an Ordained Minister, as well as a humorous and motivational speaker.  Doors open at 5 pm, and all are welcome to attend!  

    Cognitive Testing: April 11 - 1st and 5th grades will have cognitive testing from 8:30 to 11:30 am.

    High School Plan Night: April 11 - All 8th through 11th graders are encouraged to attend.  We ask that at least one parent attend with their student.  To make good use of each family's time, each family should plan for approximately one hour of total time for the evening.  The schedule for the evening is as follows: 

    6:00 -  9th & 10th grades meet in the ROC (Room 200) for presentation

    6:30 -  9th & 10th grades meet with administration in the ROC

    6:30 - 11th & 12th grades meet in the ROC (Room 200) for presentation

    7:00 - 11th & 12th grades meet with administration in the ROC  

    If your student is unable to attend, please let administration know ASAP to schedule a time to meet to choose classes and hear the presentation information.

    Soccer & Volleyball Intent Letters: Due today!  If your student/s, in grades 6-11, are interested in playing either soccer or volleyball in the fall, please let the office know ASAP.

    Septagon Construction Career Day: April 5 - Septagon Construction is holding a career day at the Mathewson Exhibition Center from 9 am to 2 pm.  Registration is available online at www.septagon.com/construction-career-day.  If students plan to attend, it will count as an absence and they will be responsible to get their homework ahead of time and turn it in when they return.

    Septagon Construction Career Day: April 5 - Septagon Construction is holding a career day at the Mathewson Exhibition Center from 9 am to 2 pm.  Fliers were sent home with all high school students.  Registration is available online at www.septagon.com/construction-career-day.  If students plan to attend, it will count as an absence and they will be responsible to get their homework ahead of time and turn it in when they return.

    Father-Daughter Dance: TOMORROW, March 16 from 6 pm to 8 pm - Father's and daughters are invited to attend the STUCO Father-Daughter dance.  It will be an evening of music, food, crafts, and fun!  Tickets can be purchased in the ACS office or at the door.  Tickets are $5 per person.  If your family takes pictures during the dance, the yearbook class asks that you submit them for the 2018-2019 yearbook.

    Grade Cards: Grade cards will go home today.  We will recognize honor roll during opening on Monday, March 11.  Parents, feel free to join us!

    Alumni Basketball Games: March 9 @ 5:30 & 6:30 in the ROC gym - Come out for a night of fun!  The junior high boys will be playing against their parents at 5:30 and the high school boys will be playing our boys basketball alumni at 6:30.  Athletic Committee will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs.  They ask that everyone bring a side dish and a dessert.

    Father-Daughter Dance: March 16 from 6 pm to 8 pm - Father's and daughters are invited to attend the STUCO Father-Daughter dance.  It will be an evening of music, food, crafts, and fun!  Tickets can be purchased in the ACS office.  Tickets are $5 per person.

    Septagon Construction Career Day: April 5 - Septagon Construction is holding a career day at the Mathewson Exhibition Center from 9 am to 2 pm.  Fliers were sent home with all high school students.  Registration is available online at www.septagon.com/construction-career-day.  If students plan to attend, it will count as an absence and they will be responsible to get their homework ahead of time and turn it in when they return.     

    Junior/Senior Prom: April 6 - Juniors and seniors are invited to attend the 1920's Under the Stars prom at the Celebration Center on April 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm.  Attendees will meet at the Sedalia Courthouse at 4 pm for photos.  Tickets may be purchased for $15 per person or $30 per couple in the school office. 

    Cognitive Testing: April 11 - 1st and 5th grades will have cognitive testing from 8:30 to 11:30 am.  More information will be sent home.

    High School Plan Night: April 11 - All 8th through 11th graders are strongly encouraged to attend plan night.  Plan night is designed to communicate with families regarding preparing for graduation and college/career options following graduation.  Plan night also gives students the opportunity to choose classes for the upcoming school year. We ask that at least one parent attend with their student.  To make good use of each family's time, Plan Night will look a little differently than it has in previous years.  Each family should plan for approximately one hour of total time for the evening.  The schedule for the evening is as follows: 6:00 -  9th & 10th grades meet in Sanctuary for presentation; 6:30 -  9th & 10th grades meet with administration in CEL Awana Room/Cafeteria; 6:30 - 11th & 12th grades meet in Sanctuary for presentation; 7:00 - 11th & 12th grades meet with administration in CEL Awana Room/Cafeteria.  If your family is unable to attend, please let administration know ASAP.  

    Senior Fundraiser: April 13 - Fish Fry @ Smithton Diner from 4 pm to 8 pm.  Seniors are selling tickets for $10 per person.

    Iowa Basic Testing: April 15-17 - During Iowa Basic testing, students attend school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday that week.  There will be no homework that week.  More information is forthcoming.

    Student Intent Letters: Due TODAY!  In order to prepare for the upcoming school year, we ask that the intent letters be returned to the office.  Thank you for prayerfully seeking the Lord's will concerning your children's education.  

    Drama Auditions: TODAY from 3:30-5:30 - This year's drama production is "Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch".  The first rehearsal is Monday, March 4 from 3:30-5:30 in the Awana Room.  Rehearsals are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:15-5:30.  Dress rehearsal is Saturday, April 20 from 1-4 pm.  Rehearsals will be Monday-Friday the weeks of April 15-19 and 22-25.  Production dates are Friday, April 26 at 7 pm and Saturday, April 27 at 2 pm and 7 pm.

    Tonight is our last night for home basketball games.  The junior varsity boys play at 6 pm, and the varsity boys play at 7 pm.  Come cheer on our Mustangs! 

    STUCO Lock-In: TONIGHT - Student Council will be having a lock-in social from 8 pm Friday, February 22 until 6 am Saturday, February 23 in the ROC gym.  Each grade is assigned to bring the following: 9th- breakfast, 10th- drinks, 11th- snacks, 12th- drinks.  Students can bring board games, sleeping bags, etc.

    3rd Quarter Mid-Terms: Mid-terms were mailed out on Monday afternoon.     

    8th Grade Fundraiser: Support the 8th graders as they fund raise for their trip to Boston.  You can choose from a juice or a root beer and chocolate dipped treat for your special someone.  $2 each.  Order forms and payment are due in the office by Monday, February 11.  Treats will be delivered on Friday, February 15 during the Valentine exchange.

    Benefit Fish Fry: Saturday, February 9 - There will be a fish fry, silent auction, and raffles to benefit the Mabry family from 3 to 8 pm at the Smithton Diner.  The fish dinner will consist of 5 pieces of fish, cole slaw, bbq beans, hush puppies, dessert, and a drink for $10.  The event coordinators are accepting additional donations for the auction and raffles, if you would like to give in this way.  Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event.       

    Senior Class Fundraiser: Sunday, February 10 from 12-1:30 at Katy Park Church - The seniors will be hosting a chili and soup luncheon, and a dessert auction to raise funds for their senior trip to Panama City Beach, Florida.

    Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our STUCO during the carnival last Saturday!  It was a great success!  STUCO is already thinking ahead to next year and coming up with new, fun ideas to raise money for local missions and mission trips.  Today is Spirit Day and there is a lot of spirit being displayed around here.  It is great to see students, of all ages, showing their love for their school! During the pep rally today, the students started an epic game of school-wide knock out.  It was fun!  Special thanks to our home school athletes for joining us, and to Jon Hill and Eric Rehmer, basketball coaches, for joining in on the pep rally!

    Mrs. Leon is busily getting things prepared for the spring drama production.  There are still a few parent jobs open for those interested in helping out.  Mrs. Leon will need the following jobs fulfilled to help her during production season: Costume Coordinator, Gate/Concessions Coordinator, House Manager, Make Up & Hair, Sound Engineer.  If you would like to volunteer for these jobs, please email the office to sign up!   

    3rd Quarter Mid-Term Cutoff: January 30 - With school closed for weather on Wednesday, we will be a bit later than planned getting midterm grades sent home.  We will do our best to get them sent out on Monday, February 4.

    Senior Class Fundraiser: Sunday, February 10 from 12-1:30 at Katy Park Church - Due to the anticipated weather, please note the date change.  The seniors will be hosting a chili and soup luncheon, and a dessert auction to raise funds for their senior trip to Panama City Beach, Florida.  

    Valentine Exchange: Friday, February 15 - Students will have the opportunity to exchange Valentine's with their schoolmates and teachers, if they choose.  A list of students and teachers went home today. 

    No school: Monday, February 18 - There will be no school or homework for that day.  However, teachers are allowed to give homework for Tuesday, February 19 if the teacher chooses.   

    STUCO Lock-In: February 22 - Student Council will be having a lock-in social from 8 pm Friday, February 22 until 6 am Saturday, February 23 in the ROC gym.  More information will be coming as they plan their event.

    STUCO Carnival: January 26 from 5 to 8 pm in the ROC gym - STUCO is busy preparing their annual carnival.  The theme this year is Cloud 9.  Plan now to join us for fun, games, concessions, and much more!  Dress up as anything that flies or can be found in the sky.  There will be a Pie in the Face Contest!!!  Bring your entire family for an evening of fun and fellowship!

    Home Basketball Games: January 14 - Junior high boys play at 6 pm and high school boys play at 7 pm.

    Add/Drop Deadline: January 16 - Any high school students that would like to add or drop a class can pick up a form from Mrs. Furrey in the office.  The form must be signed by the student and a parent.

    Science Projects - 3rd quarter is set aside for science projects.  This means that it is acceptable for science teachers to assign regularly scheduled science homework in addition to the science project work.  Check with your child as teachers will be sending home their expectations, deadlines, and important information for this year's projects.

    Crock Pots: There are two crock pots in the kitchen that were left behind from the Thanksgiving Feast.  If you are missing a crock pot, please check the kitchen. 

    Science Projects: 3rd quarter is the quarter for Science Projects.  Teachers that plan to have students do projects will be sending home information soon, if they haven't already.  Projects will be done in addition to normally assigned homework.  If you have any questions regarding Science Projects, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher. 

    Grade Cards: Grade cards will go home on Monday, January 7. 

    Honor Roll: We will recognize our honor roll students on Wednesday, January 9 during opening.  All parents are invited and welcome to attend!

    JH & HS Basketball Home Games: January 8 - Junior High boys will be playing at 5 & 7 pm.  High School boys will play at 6 pm.  Let's all come out for our first home game of the season to cheer on the Mustangs!  See the school calendar for the entire basketball schedule.
