  • Summer Bulletin, July 9, 2019

Hello, ACS families!  We've already been out of school for two months!  As always, summer seems to fly by so quickly.  I pray that each of you are enjoying summer break and are having time to relax.  I want to share a few reminders with families regarding our upcoming school year.

Summer Office Hours - We continue to be in the office this summer on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 - 2:00.  Please let us know if you plan to visit us during our normal summer office hours just to ensure we will be here.  We try our best to have set summer hours, but our personal schedules can be fairly fluid over the break and we enjoy the freedom to spend time with our family as opportunities arise.

Tuition - If not already paid, September tuition is due immediately.

School Supply Lists - Mrs. Otten emailed the school supply lists out.  If your family needs additional access to the lists, they are available to download on the website homepage on the scrolling announcements.  Students will need their personal supplies the first day of school.  Miscellaneous supplies, such as, Anywhere spray, paper towels, etc. can be turned in the night of Kick-Off.

2019/2020 School Calendar - The entire year's school calendar is available on the website under the "Event Calendar" tab.  Please note the dates in August that there are school activities.  Volleyball and soccer game schedules will be posted once they are completed.

Parent Jobs - Job openings are available for preview now.  If you have any questions on a specific job, feel free to email the office to request the job description.  On August 1, the jobs will be available for sign up.  A One call will be sent out and families can sign up for jobs at that time.  Jobs signed up for before the One call is sent will not be considered.  Per the ACS Parental Agreement, we ask that each family sign up for a total of 3 parent points.  Once all families have signed up for their 3 points, additional points may be signed up for.  Currently, there are openings for a Hot Lunch Coordinator, Thanksgiving Feast Coordinator, Family Club President and Secretary, and Drama Production Director.  These are some of our more time consuming jobs.  If you are interested in these jobs, please reach out the the office as soon as possible for more information.  Without these jobs fulfilled, ACS is not able to offer hot lunches, host our Thanksgiving Feast Day, have a Family Club, or a spring school play.

Substitute Teachers 2019/2020 -  Mrs. Greer has been busy putting together a substitute teacher list for the upcoming school year. If you would like to be added to our sub list, please email the school.

Spanish Teacher Need - We currently do not have a Spanish I & II teacher for the upcoming school year.  If you know of someone who may be interested, please have them reach out to the school office.

One Call List - New families have been added to our One Call list and updated other families contact information.  If you are not signed up and would like to receive text messages through One Call, please test the word 'Alert' to 22300.

Verse of the Day: For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  Romans 1:20

Today is the last day of school!!!  The students are busily cleaning and preparing the building to leave it in good shape for Maplewood.  I am thankful that Maplewood has chosen Applewood to be a part of its ministry.  Without them, and their heart for missions, our little school would not be all that it is today.  God has been faithful to keep the doors of Applewood open for 31 years!  We serve an awesome God!!!  It is an honor and a privilege to get to do ministry with each student, teacher, and family involved at Applewood.  I pray that each of you have a wonderful summer break.  I know that it too will be over before we know it.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of the great things God has in store for ACS in the upcoming school year.

Administration will be out of the office during normal school hours this summer.  Beginning May 21 through June 18, we will be out of the office.  Administration will be checking emails and voicemail while we are out of the office.  As always, we can be reached on our personal phones if it is urgent.  Once we return on June 18, we will be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 to 2, or later.  If you are needing to meet with us, we can set up a time to do so.  Please shoot us a quick text if you plan to visit us during our normal summer office hours just to ensure we will be here.  We try our best to have set summer hours, but our personal schedules can be fairly fluid over the break and we enjoy the freedom to spend time with our family as opportunities arise.
