It is always such a blessing to see the joy of Christmas so evident on the faces of our young people. Thank you to Family Club for providing the refreshments as our families enjoyed a time of fellowship after the program. Elementary Drama Teacher - We are still looking for someone to teach K - 8 drama next semester on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:30 - 2:15. Colossians 4:6 Donations Needed - New Hope Baptist Church is putting together a 'North Pole Express Christmas Store' which is a community outreach event that makes giving presents to loved ones possible for children who could not otherwise afford such a gesture. This store will allow kids to come and shop for gifts for their loved ones free of charge. They are asking if each of our Applewood families would feel led to donate 2 - 3 unopened rolls of wrapping paper so the gifts can go home with children already wrapped and ready to be gifted. If you would feel led to help in this way, please have your donations dropped off in the school office by Wednesday, November 29th. 'Thank You' to the families that have already donated! 2nd Quarter Mid-Term Cutoff - TODAY - mid-terms will go out next week Thanksgiving Feast - Wednesday, November 22 - this is a 1/2 day for students - K - 5th grade will perform around 11:30, and we will plan to eat around noon - A very special 'thank you' to Matt and Breanna Wells for coordinating our Thanksgiving feast and Mrs. Jamie Groshart for coordinating our K - 5 performance. 106:3-4 Season of Thanks - With Thanksgiving upon us I am often asked what I am thankful for. I am thankful for many things and among them is my ACS family (students, parents, and staff). It is truly an honor to serve alongside you! During this season, I encourage you to look around and take inventory of the many blessings in your own life. Be sure to acknowledge those that you are thankful for; share a kind word with the special people in your life and let them know you are blessed by them. I challenge you to encourage your child to share what they are thankful for, perhaps have them write an encouraging note to their teacher. Let's Be Purposeful Together! Senior Class Fundraiser - There will be a fish fry hosted by our senior class tomorrow, November 11th, at the Smithton Diner from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Your meal will consist of catfish (5pc for adults & 3 pc for kids), baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, drink and dessert. Tickets are $10.00 (Adults) and $6.00 (kids 10 and under). All tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Turner Heating & Air @ (660) 826-6060 or purchasing in the school office. Veterans Day - Mrs. Otten has been busy scheduling a few special speakers to come speak to our students in honor of Veterans Day. She has special speakers coming in both on Monday and Wednesday of next week. She is still working out the details, but right now she has Mr. Bussey and Mr. Bessert demonstrating the proper way to fold the flag, Mr. Bussey will speak about the history of the flag and its significance, and one day she has a local group planning to come and perform a 21 gun salute (blanks are used) outside in the parking lot. She is still ironing out the specifics of when each group will be at ACS, but all families are welcome to attend. Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions. II Corinthians 2:14 Donations Needed - New Hope Baptist Church is putting together a 'North Pole Express Christmas Store' which is a community outreach event that makes giving presents to loved ones possible for children who could not otherwise afford such a gesture. This store will allow kids to come and shop for gifts for their loved ones free of charge. They are asking if each of our Applewood families would feel led to donate 2 - 3 unopened rolls of wrapping paper so the gifts can go home with children already wrapped and ready to be gifted. If you would feel led to help in this way, please have your donations dropped off in the school office by Wednesday, November 29th. Grade Cards - Grade cards should be returned to the school office as soon as possible School Absences - Please let the office know ahead of time if you know your child will be missing school Tardies - With colder days it often seems harder and harder to get around in the morning, but please be sure to make every effort to get your child to school on time - just a reminder that if a student is tardy 3 times in a semester they will need to serve a detention School Board Meeting - Scheduled for Monday, November 6th @ 6:30 pm Senior Class Fundraiser - There will be a fish fry hosted by our senior class on November 11th at the Smithton Diner from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. As all of you know, Mrs. Leon is undergoing chemotherapy for *** cancer and will be unable to lead our students this year in these programs. Mrs. Jamie Groshart has felt led to step up and coordinate these programs in Mrs. Leon's absence. The Thanksgiving program will include our K - 5th grade, and the Christmas program will be performed by our K - 8th grade students. Because Mrs. Groshart works and will be unable to be here 3 days a week, we will be restructuring K - 8 specials through the end of the semester. Once I finalize the new schedule, I will send a copy home with students so parents will have the latest information. Dates to Remember: The Thanksgiving program will be performed right before lunch on November 22nd by our K - 5th grade students.
