Hello ACS, We are scheduling a parent/teacher conference night for the spring. It will be Monday, March 14, at 6:00 pm. At that time, we will be handing out report cards for 3rd quarter. Teachers have requested this time to be able to meet with the families once again before the school year ends. It should be a fun and informative evening.
Christian College Expo: Kansas City, Saturday, March 19 – 9:30 am to 2:00 pm – Free of Charge. Fifty Christian colleges from eleven states will be there. Two 45-minute seminars: 10:30 am- Finding Financial Aid; 11:30 am- Secrets to Studying in College. Location: Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, 95th Street and Wornall Rd, just blocks north of I-435.
Attention High School Families: Due to the amount of students and teachers that will be gone during the Omaha Regional Tournament for basketball, we have decided to cancel school for all high school classes on Friday, March 4. Students will still be responsible for class work for that day.
Supplies Needed: We are running short on Clorox Anywhere spray and are asking each high school family to please bring in one bottle. Also, we are in need of dry erase markers and asking each elementary family to bring a pack of 4 colored dry erase markers and each junior high family to bring a pack of 2 black dry erase markers. Thank you!!
Happy Birthday to You: Students: Harper Triplett

Hello ACS, I wanted to let you know that Mrs. Connie McCray has stepped down from teaching due to health reasons and Mrs. Marjie Wester has rejoined our staff at Applewood. It has been a blessing to see how God has worked all of this together. Please be in prayer for Mrs. McCray and her family during this time. Thank you! Congratulations to our poster contest winners! The following students were selected from the Queen City Garden Club as winners and will be sent on to the district competition: Grace Beaher, Luke Rehmer, Marcus Kjar, Alex Luvin, Moriah Schutte, Xiara Leon, Sarah Greer, and Faith Thomas! The poster was based upon Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl preventing forest fires. Finally, just a reminder that we will not be in school Monday, March 7. Students will not have class work given for that day; but, they will have homework assigned for Tuesday, March 8.

Hello ACS, If you receive the Sedalia News Journal, you may have already seen our exciting news. The Sedalia Rotary Club has donated $450 to ACS to benefit our elementary reading/literature program. We were given the opportunity to be featured guests at their January meeting. Mariah Wassam, Jacob Sims, and Debra Church were there to speak on behalf of our school. Thank you Mariah and Jacob for presenting fantastic speeches! Also, if you personally know anyone on the Rotary Club, please express our thanks.
Student Council Carnival: Saturday, Jan. 29, from 6-9 pm. There will be hot dogs, chili, pizza, nachos, and homemade desserts to buy. The senior class show this year will be ACS Best Dance Crew. Once again, we will have our annual pie in the face contest. For those of you who are new, students may place money on anyone in the school to receive a pie in the face. The top money raisers will be “presented with” their pie the night of the carnival. Also, people bid as to who actually “gives” the pie to our lucky winners. It is a great fundraiser and lots of fun. Please plan now to join us for a wonderful family fun night and our biggest student council fundraiser of the year.

Now, I did enjoy the break as I am sure you did also! As we gear up for second semester, please remind your student to stay focused and faithful. Third quarter seems to always find us slowing down or getting sloppy. Since it is a long time between now and Easter break, the school board voted to allow us a day off to help break up the monotony. Please mark your calendars – No school, Monday, March 7th. Thanks, School Board!!

Remember that Friday will be Spirit Day; wear your ACS gear or red and black!
