Welcome back to another school year! The start of school is upon us and with it comes some degree of craziness as we all adjust to new schedules, teachers, classmates, and classes. The students and staff seem to be settling in well and most of them are still smiling. :) We took a moment to pray over our students and staff this morning in opening, and I truly believe God is at work in our school and am excited to see what He has planned for us this year. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the office. Teacher Grading Procedure - Each teacher should be sending home their grading procedure this week that may include additional supplies needed for their class as well as classroom expectations. Please be asking your child if they have received theirs and look them over closely. If you have any questions, please contact the teacher immediately to get them resolved. Red Folder - Should the office need to send home information or paperwork for your family, it will be given to the child you have elected to be the 'red folder holder'. Please ask your child periodically to see if there is anything in the red folder. Hot Lunch - Friday, September 4th, is the first hot lunch offered for the year. The seniors are again planning to offer a meal option on Wednesdays and Pizza on Fridays. Please remember to turn in your payment when you turn in your order form. Kick off forms - Thank you to many of you who have turned in your completed kick off forms. If you have not turned yours in yet, please get them completed and turned in as quickly as you can. School Supplies- Someone dropped off school supplies this morning, but they left them on the table without checking them in and they were not labeled. If this was you, please contact the office so we can be sure to mark your family off the school supply list. Label - Please be sure to label your child's jackets / supplies / etc... Our lost and found shelf grows at an alarmingly rapid pace and it is helpful if things are labeled and we can identify the owner quickly. Electronics - All electronics must be turned into the office. This includes personal laptops, i pods, cell phones, etc...

Teachers Needed - All teachers have been hired...Praise God! Wecome Mr. Steven Bussey, Mrs. Kasey Baker, and Mrs. Gwen Turner to our staff. School Supply List - Lists were mailed out last week. If you did not receive yours, please let the office know and we can resend it. Supplies may be checked in following kick off on the 27th. If you do not bring them to kick off, they may be brought the first day of school. Please be sure you do not just drop them off and leave without checking them in. It will also be helpful if you mark the supplies with your name and school year. This helps us better monitor what supplies are brought in from year to year to know what to ask from families at the beginning of the next year. Kick-Off - Thursday, August 27th at 6:30 in the sanctuary - Every family needs to be represented by at least one parent. This is an evening where much information is shared concerning the upcoming school year, forms are filled out, school directory verified, one call list verified, etc..... Child care will once again be provided thanks to our student council. Parent Jobs - If you have not signed up yet for your parent jobs, please do so soon. All families need to be signed up to fulfill a minimum of 3 points by September 1. If you have not signed up by September 1, your school board representative will contact you and help you get signed up. Summer Reading Program - Mrs. Bessert has agreed to secure awards again for our top readers. We have given out some pretty great awards in the past, including a NOOK. Please encourage your child to Read, Read, Read!!! Family Club - Welcome Jennifer Bessert, new Family Club President! It doesn't seem possible, but the start of school is just around the corner. Please be checking the bulletin regularly and pay special attention to the upcoming events and the event calendar. Volleyball practice will be starting next week and soccer practice may have already begun. If you are interested in playing either sport and have not signed up yet, please contact Pam Young or Kathy Greer. Last I spoke with Pam, we were in danger of not being able to field a junior high co-ed soccer team, so if you know of someone in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and they are interested in playing, have them contact Brad Collier or Pam Young. If you missed our free sports physical night, you can still download the physical form and take it to your doctor when you go for your physical. Every athlete must have a current physical on file before they compete. All sports fees must be paid before your child can play in their first game. Mrs. Furrey and I are getting excited about the 2015/2016 school year and look forward to seeing what God will do through our staff and in the lives of our families. Teachers Needed - Algebra 1, Algebra 2, 8th grade science Parent Jobs - We have revised the parent job list and cleared out last year's information. In past years we have noticed a few families selecting multiple jobs that put your parent points well above the mandatory 3 points per family. We appreciate your willingness to serve above and beyond what is asked, but we have found that it significantly limits some of our families in their search for parent points. This year we are asking that each family be mindful of this and only sign up for 3-5 points until everyone has had an opportunity to look over the list and make their choice. Please take note that we have added and/or deleted some jobs as well as adjusted points. Summer Reading Program - Mrs. Bessert has agreed to secure awards again for our top readers. We have given out some pretty great awards in the past, including a NOOK. Please encourage your child to Read, Read, Read!!! Family Club Officer Needed - There has been interest in the Family Club president position, but it's not too late to be considered if you are interested. The next Family Club meeting is on Monday, August 3rd at 12:00 at Panera. Tuition - September's tuition is due now - 2015/2016 tuition per month is $160 per child with a $40 family charge - 2015/2016 tuition per month: 1 student ($200); 2 students ($360); 3 students ($520); 4 students ($680) Book Fee - $165 was due in May - if you have not paid yours, please contact the school office to make arrangements with Mrs. Otten Upcoming Events - August (3) Family Club Meeting 12:00 @ Panera (10) Athletic Meeting 5:00 (20) New Family Orientation 6:30 (24) 1st/2nd year new teacher orientation 9:00 (25) School Board Meeting - 6:30 (26) All teacher in-service (27) Kick-off September (2) First Day of School Birthdays - July (03) Debra States (10) Linda Dial (11) Seth White (17) Kelsey Patton (28) Gareth Herrington (30) Bradley Rogers

Grade Cards went home today - Please return by Friday, March 20th Plan Night - changed from March 24 to April 14th at 6:30 in the ROC - This is a mandatory event for all 8-11 grade students and at least one parent - we will be planning schedules for the next year Cognitive Testing - Grades 3, 7, 9 on March 26th from 8:30 - 11:30 in the ROC Play Details - Thank you all students that auditioned - This year's play is a murder mystery dinner theater where the 'murdered victims' come out and talk to the audience to help the wannabe detective find the murderer. This is a theatrical device similar to Charles Dickens' classic novel A Christmas Carol with the ghosts of Christmas past, future, and a present. Mrs. Leon wants to assure parents and students that any questionable material is being cut, changed, or tweaked, as is done with every play performed at ACS. We do not believe that ghosts exist, nor that we can communicate with the dead, as it says in the book of Hebrews 9:27. Please plan to attend one of the following performances: April 24th at 7:00 pm with dinner -- April 25th at 1:00 (dessert only) -- April 25th at 7:00 with dinner Scrip Cards - Please be checking your earnings thermometer for our Scrip card program - Grade cards will not be released at the end of the school year if you have not earned or paid the $100 requirement for each family - See Mrs. Rehmer if you are in need of purchasing any cards Senior Trip Chaperones Needed - The senior class is looking for chaperones for senior trip. Massachusetts) Boonslick Regional Library fundraiser - Many of you know that the Bookmobile visits our school once a month, and this allows our students to have access to books that we can't provide due to lack of space. The Bookmobile has recently had to have some repairs and as a result Boonslick Regional Library is having 'A Rock, A Reading Event' to raise funds. They are asking for financial donations and/or people willing to sit in rocking chairs and rock for 1 hour increments. If you would be willing to serve in this way, please see me in the office. Support Yearbook- Wednesdays are "snackie days" in March. Treats will be available in the office or at lunch for $.50 to $1.00. All proceeds go to help lower the cost of the yearbooks. Note Of Thanks - Your expressions of sympathy and donations to Give Us Hope Mission were greatly appreciated. The children in Dino's Orphanage will be blessed by your kindness and generosity. Thank you! Joyce Nichols and the family of Bertha Cairer Birthdays - No Birthdays this week
