    1st grade homework

    Math: p. 242-243

    Reading: Read p. 66-69.  Do p. 101. 

    Journal: Write a short story about what you would do if you were the teacher for a day.  At least 3 sentences. Remember to use capitalization and punctuation where needed. :)

    Spelling: Parents, if your student did not score 100% on the pretest, please give the spelling test today.

    Phonics: p. 191-192

    Phonics & English: p.201-202

    Spectrum Writing: p. 20-21

    2nd grade homework

    Math: p.224-225  Parents, division is new to the 2nd graders so they will probably need some help understanding this new concept. 

    Reading: See Dr. Ehlert's blog.

    Spelling: If they did not receive 100% on the pretest, please give them the spelling test.

    Phonics & Language: 215-217.  Cross off #2 on p. 217 and cross off dictation.  Parents, please make sure that they are understanding "past tense" verbs on p. 215.

    Just Write: Do p. 19. Using the web you made on p. 18, Write five sentences about your topic on p. 19 .Make sure that you stay on topic. 

    Journal: Journal about what you would do if you could be the teacher for a day. Write at least 4 sentences. Make sure that you are using proper capitalization and punctuation.

    Spelling: Do p. 39.  Parents, give the pretest.  If they do not get 100%, have them study for the test on Friday.

    Phonics: p. 187-190

    Phonics and English: p.197-200

    Handwriting: p.167-168

  • 2nd grade homework for 02/06/2019-02/07/2019

    Homework for Wed. and Thurs.

    Math: 220-223 and p. 226 (we will do 224-225 in class).  Cross off #4 on p. 220.  Cross off a., b., c., and d on p. 221.  Parents, please watch "borrowing from the thousands" on p. 222 and make sure they are understanding the concept.  We just started doing this in class so it is fairly new to them.

     Reading: See Dr. Ehlert's blog.

    Spelling: Do p. 77.  Parents, please give the pretest.  If they do not get 100%, have them study for the test on Friday.

     Phonics & Language: 209-214.  Cross off dictation.  Parents: please go over the past tense verb rule with them on p. 209 as this is new.

    Handwriting: On paper, copy Psalm 37:23 in cursive. (from p. 86)

    Math: p. 226-230  Parents: The double column subtraction is somewhat new to them. Please make sure that they are understanding the concept for p. 230.

    Reading: Read p. 36-45.  Do. p. 94-95 both sides. 

    Journal: Write about your birthday.  What do you like to do?  Is there a special family tradition that you do for your birthday? What did you do for your last birthday? Make your journal page at least 3 sentences and answer these questions.

    Spelling: Do p. 37.  Parents: please give the pretest using the 10 words from p. 36

    Phonics: p. 177-180

    Phonics and English: p. 187-190

    Handwriting: p. 163-164

    Spectrum Writing: p. 13

    Spelling: Do p. 73.  Parents: Please give the spelling pretest using the 20 words from p. 70

    Phonics & Language: p. 199-203.  Parents: please make sure they understand "diagraming" on p.  199.  This is new.  If you have any questions, feel free to call me.  Cross off dictation.

    Handwriting: On paper, do the "alphabetizing" section of p.84 in cursive.

    Just Write: p. 9-12  On p. 9, you should have at least 4 sentences in cursive.

    Spelling: Do p. 62-64. Write spelling words 3x each.

    Phonics & Language: p.171-175.  Cross off dictation.

    Handwriting: Do p. 76 (Parents, please make sure that student understands what the return address and address are and where each should go on an envelope.  Also, point out where the stamp would go. 

    Also for handwriting: On paper, write a friendly letter to someone in cursive.  Think about what you learned on Friday.

    Phonics p. 105-108  Parents, please explain to student that "Marker E" jumps out of the word when Miss Long is there and the bad cats come onto the end of the word.  (They will understand and will need to know this for their pages:)

    Phonics and Language:p. 126-129. Cross off dictation. There are only 6 mistakes on p.128-not 7. 
      
    Handwriting: Write the following 3x each in cursive: dot, sit, jag, eel, and left.
     
    Journal: Journal about building the world's biggest snowman.  Use good adjectives (describer words).  At least 5 sentences.

    Spelling: Do p. 86-88 Write spelling words 3x each.

    Phonics and Language: p. 257-261.  Cross off dictation.  You don't have to color on p. 258.

    Just Write: p. 60-61

    Journal: Write a story using an animal for the main character.  At least 6 sentences.

    Parents: Don't forget that the Father Daughter dance is coming up this Saturday, March 17th.  Tickets are available in the office for $5 each.

    1st Grade:  This is homework for Monday and Tuesday.

    Math: 291-295  Cross off #1 on p. 294.

     Reading: Read p. 47-54 Do p. 121-122 (both sides of pages)

    Spelling: Write word family words like we do on the tree.  Do p. 44.  Write words 3x each.

    Phonics: p. 231-234

    Phonics and English: p. 241-244

    Handwriting: p. 171-172

    Spectrum Writing: p. 45 Make sure that you tell what happened in order and write your story about the pictures that you drew.

    Parents: We will begin our Iowa Basic testing on Wednesday.  Please make sure that your student brings in 2 - #2 pencils, gets plenty of rest and has a good breakfast.  Thanks!

    Also, don't forget that the Father Daughter Dance is coming up this Saturday, March 17th.  Tickets are available in the office for $5 each.
