Themes in Literature

Monday--Read, "A Start in Life," pages 110-117. Answer "Think It Through," questions 1-7 on page 117.

Tuesday--Write a character sketch portraying the way a person thinks or feels by describing his actions. For example, you could show a worried person by telling how he paces back and forth, wrings his hands and keeps looking at the clock. One paragraph, please.

 

Physical Science

Monday 

Read pages 138-148, "The Earth's Core." Make a drawing of the earth's magnetic core. Please color and label all parts.

Tuesday

Homework--ON YOUR OWN, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5. 6.6 and 6.7.

 

2nd Grade Reading

Monday

Read, "A Promise to Remember," pages 138-142. Workbook pages 149 & 150.

 

World Literature

Monday 

ANIMAL FARM questions for chapter 3.

1. Did the pigs help other animals work the harvest? How?

2. Who did the animals admire the most? Why? What was his slogan?

3. Describe a typical Sunday on Animal Farm.

4. Who always disagrees at meetings? What was one thing they all agreed on?

5. Which animals are the best educated?  To what degree are the other animals educated?

6. What did Squealer say would happen if the pigs didn't get the extra food? How do the other animals react?

1. How do humans react to the situation on Animal Farm?

2. Name and describe the neighbors on neither side of the farm.

3. How did rebelliousness show itself on other farms?

4. Who does Snowball direct the Battle of the Cowshed? Describe the battle?

Module 5 Study guide questions 1-25, on pages 159-160. We will go over answers in class on Wednesday and have the test on Friday.

Review the selections in Chapter 15: MODERN FICTION pages 476-524. 

Make a chart with the following information:

Main Characters

Write a short paragraph about your favorite character in each story.

Write a short (three sentences) description of the plot of each story.

We will go over these on Wednesday in class. Test will be Friday.
