Verse of the day:  You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me.  Psalm 32:7

Immediate Athletic Openings - We have openings for an athletic secretary as well as Athletic Director that need to be filled as soon as possible.  Applewood is blessed to have such a great sports program with outstanding athletes and coaching staff.  Many serving in our athletic department are home school parents or ACS families that are already serving in many other areas at our school.  We are asking that ALL of our families be in prayer to see if this is an area that God would call YOU to serve.  You do not need to have a child involved in our athletic program to fill these positions.  If you would like additional information about either of these positions, please contact the office.

'Tis the Season' - We have lots of 'littles' that have been dealing with illness in the past few weeks.  Teachers are doing a great job of sanitizing their rooms, but it's that time of year when kids are confined to the indoors and naturally in each others 'personal space'.  Please refer to policy #5400 concerning illness to see when it is safe for your child to return to school.  Just a reminder...a student must be free from fever, diarrhea, and vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school.

Fall Sports Banquet - Monday, October 31st @ 6:30 pm in the ROC - Please bring a dessert to share - This is a very special evening designed to honor our athletes and recognize their accomplishments.

School Picture Day - November 4th in the morning - This year Mrs. Brenda Nevels will be taking our school pictures - we will send home ordering information as soon as it is made available to us.

2nd Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Mrs. Furrey is once again heading up our pumpkin decorating contest.  Pumpkins may be brought to the school on Monday, October 24th, and judging will be held the morning of Friday, October 28th.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

1st Quarter Ends - Wednesday, October 26th - grade cards will go home the following week

STUCO Carnival - October 29th from 12:00 - 3:00 behind the ROC

K - 5 Field Trip - Just a reminder that permission slips have gone home about a field trip for grades K - 5 to go watch Smith Cotton High School's performance of Mary Poppins on Friday, November 18th.  Permission slips are due into the office by Monday, November 14th, but may be returned any time between now and then.

Thanksgiving Feast - November 23rd (1/2 day of school) - Additional information will go home with students the last week of October - In addition to the meal, Mrs. Leon is once again helping our K - 8 students prepare a skit or musical piece to share.  She is needing to know who is not planning to be here that day so she can plan accordingly.  Please let her know as soon as possible.
