Volleyball Scheduler - We are in need of someone to take over scheduling volleyball games and officials for next season - this is considered a 'parent job' valued at 3 points.  In order for us to fill a schedule for next season, contacts will need to be made soon with other schools.  If you are looking for a way to serve at ACS from the comfort of your own home, please consider filling this position.  Interested persons should contact the school office or Mr. John Magrass (AD).  Please note that if this position is not filled, we will be unable to have a volleyball program next school year.

Basketball Interest - We had a good turnout for the basketball meeting this past week.  We now have a coach and enough interest in junior high boys basketball to support a team.  If you are interested in playing basketball, girls or boys, it's not too late to sign up.  If you were unable to make our 'sports physical night' back in August, please remember that you will need a current sports physical on file if you plan to play.

ACS Feast Day - November 25th - This is a beloved day at ACS, and one we always look forward to.  For those of you that are new to Applewood, this is a day when each student has an active part in preparing a delicious meal to share with their loved ones.  More information regarding this event and how you can help will be sent home shortly.  In addition to the meal, Mrs. Leon is once again helping our elementary students prepare a skit or musical piece to share.  She is needing to know who is not planning to be here that day so she can plan accordingly.  Please let her know as soon as possible.

1st Annual ACS Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Decorated pumpkins may be dropped off in the office between now and October 28th - Judging will take place in the morning on Friday, October 30th - prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Hot Lunch Forms - due today - if you missed the deadline and would like hot lunch next month, contact Mrs. Pine at (660) 596-9822

1st Quarter Ends - today (how time flies) - Grade cards will be released next Friday if your surveys have been returned

Operation Christmas Child - Maplewood Church is requesting help to fill their shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  They are asking for families to consider donating toys (must be new) for children of all ages to help in this ministry opportunity.  Packing night is November 8th, so if you participate, please have your donations brought to the school by November 6th.

Homework Surveys and Parent/Student Surveys - Turn in to the office as soon as possible

Upcoming Events - October (23) 1st Quarter Ends  (23&24) Boys Soccer Nationals Tournament in Springfield  (27) School Board Meeting 6:30
