Hello ACS!
Girls’ soccer
has started and we invite everyone to check the calendar and attend a game! To
support soccer, Monday will be a spirit
day!
We are already making plans for next year! Part of our
process is receiving applications for new students and teachers. Student applications can be downloaded
from the website. We are currently in need of the following teaching positions: an elementary
teacher, high school math, and art for K-12. If you know of someone who might
be interested in ACS, please have them look at our website or call the office.
Scrapping for Boston: Saturday,
Apr 5, 9 am-5 pm –This is a
fundraising event for Boston. If you’re interested in scrapping, the cost is
$25. There will be several vendors here displaying their wares and hoping to
sell! Please stop by and shop for Easter or Mother’s Day, even if you do not
stay to scrapbook! Thanks!!
High School Plan Night: Tuesday,
Apr 8, 6:30 pm – This is a very
important night for all students and parents in grades 8-11. We spend time discussing your high school career at
ACS and making decisions specific to your grade level. Attendance is vital!
Please plan now to attend!
Cognitive Testing: Thursday, Apr 10 – Grades 3, 7, 9 – This will be in the morning only. Students will have
a lightened homework day. They will be receiving more information closer to the
date.
Iowa Basics Testing: Monday, Apr
14; Tuesday, Apr 15; and Wednesday, Apr 16 – Just a reminder for our week of testing. We will only be in school
during the mornings for testing. Grades 2-8 will be all 3 days. Grades 9-11
will be only Monday and Tuesday. Grade K-1 will not be at school this week as
they do their testing during their normal school day the week before. We will
be sending home more information soon.
Elementary Field Trip: Thursday,
Apr 17, 8:15 am- 1:00 pm, Grades K-5 –
Permission slips were sent
home today for this field trip to Truman Dam and the Lost Valley Fish Hatchery.
There is no cost. At Truman Dam, they will have a guided tour of the Visitor
Center. At the Hatchery, they will take a tour and be able to fish. Drivers and
chaperones are needed. Please return your permission slip as soon as possible.

Charleston!: Friday, Apr
25 & Saturday, Apr 26 – Doors
open at 6:30 pm; Performance begins at 7:00 pm. Tickets purchased beforehand
are $8 for adults, $6 for students, and preschoolers are free. You may purchase
tickets at the office. At the door, tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for
students. There will be a concession stand each evening with all profits going
to the drama department.
