Bulletin

October 12, 2012

Greetings ACS,

Only two weeks till our first quarter is over! Only three weeks till our Annual Fundraising Dinner! It’s hard to believe but the year is flying by! Thank you for making this school year great!

Be looking for an early bulletin next week. Due to the Nationals Tournament for Soccer and Volleyball next Friday, I will be doing a bulletin on Wednesday next week.

Parent / Teacher Conferences: Monday, Oct. 29, 6:30 pm – For those who are new, our conference set up is all in the ROC. Each teacher will have a table in the gym. Once you enter, you will also receive your first quarter grade card. All your child’s teachers will be listed on the grade card. You simply visit each teacher on a first come, first serve basis. This is a great night to have any of your questions answered about classes, school, etc.

Fundraiser Dinner: Saturday, Nov. 3, 6 pm – Our big event is soon approaching! Please be working on your guest list now. You should have received a letter in the red folder. Attached to the letter was your guest list which is turned into the office in order to have an accurate count for the caterer. We are once again using Table of Five for the dinner. For those who are in the program (grades 5-8), please be checking the calendar to know when your extra rehearsals are scheduled.

Fundraiser Speaker: Our speaker is Brian Young. Mr. Young, an internationally known speaker and author, was a teacher and principal for ten years before becoming director of Creation Instruction Association. He has now been speaking on the topic of creation and Biblical authority for 20 years, doing debates at Universities, going into prisons, and sharing at churches, schools and camps around the world. He has authored a number of books on the topic of creation and Biblical authority and uses the Scriptures as the foundation for science and education. He currently resides in Nebraska with his wife Tara and four children.

Student Council News: The SSLC food drive dates are Oct. 20 and 24. StuCo members check your email for further details from Mrs. Cloud. Finally, four to six students are needed for childcare at Katy Park Baptist Church, Oct. 27, 6:15 pm. If your church ever has a need for special event childcare, please contact Lisa Cloud to see if our StuCo can help. Please don’t forget that you will be serving at the fundraising dinner, Saturday, Nov. 3.  The attire is black pants and white shirts.

Happy Birthday to You: October 13 - 20
