Hello ACS,
Our varsity
basketball teams are in Des Moines, Iowa, this week for the National Home
School Regional Competitions. They both won their games on Thursday and will
play again Friday and Saturday. Please in prayer for their abilities,
sportsmanship, and safety. Also, Monday evening at 7 pm will be the Sports
Awards night for all of our basketball teams!
Once again, I would like to remind everyone that the week
of testing is the first week in April this year. During this week, students in
grades 2-11 will be attending school Monday thru Wednesday in the mornings
only. Students in grades K-1 will not be in school at all this week; they will
complete their testing earlier during their regular class times. This is also
the week beginning our Easter break. Additionally, students in grades 3, 7, and
9 will be completing cognitive testing on Tuesday, March 27, in the morning. We
will be sending home more information as the time draws near. However, if you
have questions now, please feel free to call the office anytime, 827-4700!
Parent / Teacher Conferences: I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused! We
changed the date in October as soon as we discovered there was a conflict. It
has also been posted in the bulletin for the last several weeks. The date
change was due to the regional basketball tournament date change. It is no
longer Mar 8 and will be Mar 13 at 6 pm. We will be handing out 3rd
quarter grade cards at this time also.
State Fair Community College will sponsor a free family connections workshop March
15 on “Today’s Family Food” for adults who are concerned about childhood
obesity and diabetes and about what they’re feeding their families. The
seminar, designed for parents, grandparents, caregivers and childcare
providers, will meet from 6-8 p.m. in Thompson Conference Center A in the
Heckart Science and Allied Health Center on the SFCC campus. There is no
charge. Registration deadline is March 12. Free childcare will be provided in
the Thompson Center. Please call by March 12 to register children. Participants
can learn the dos and don’ts of cooking and how to make smart, economical food
choices to help children start healthy eating habits. For more information or
to register, call Sarah Williams, continuing education coordinator, at (660)
530-5822 or e-mail swilliams19@sfccmo.edu. Registration details are also
available at www.sfccmo.edu/workshoponwheels.
