Season’s Greetings ACS,
Parents, as the cold and flu season is here, please be
mindful of making sure your child gets enough rest and a good breakfast. Please
remind them of good hygiene skills. Also, if your child is going to be tardy or
absent, please call the office as this helps with attendance and absentee
homework sheets. Additionally, I want to make sure each family knows that your
child is encouraged to bring a water bottle and a healthy snack to have during
the day.
Our Christmas season is here and kids are busily
preparing for our Christmas program. Please mark your calendars and plan to
attend Thursday, Dec 15 as we celebrate the birth of our Lord together. Also,
Friday, Dec 16 will be our last day before Christmas break. It will be a half
day filled with games, crafts, and gifts. We will end school at 11:30 am that
day.
As Christmas approaches, so does winter. I wanted to remind everyone what will occur
should we have a snow day. It will be announced on KSIS-AM 1050, KSDL 92.3 FM,
and KXKX 105.7 FM. It will also be on the website and you will receive a one
call by 6:30 am. On those days we have snow; teachers will post their class
work and homework on the website. Each teacher has a blog and the information
will be posted by 10 am of that day.
2011 Holiday Shopping Extravaganza – The 8th grade class will be hosting a
gift wrapping station at this extravaganza to raise funds for Boston. It is
Saturday, Dec 3, from 8 am to 4 pm in the ABC Advertising Building downtown.
The following companies will have booths to purchase Christmas gifts:
Tastefully Simple, Scentsy, Premier Designs, Celebrating Home, Uppercaseliving,
Pampered Chef, thirty-one, BeautiControl, and Amy & Steph’s Crafts. The
event will be having hourly door prize drawings all day.
Mission Opportunity – The high school girls’ Bible class will be collecting scrip cards or
cash donations to support The Embassy House in Sedalia or another local
charity. If you are donating, please put it in a sealed envelope marked for
Mrs. Kjar.
Salvation Army – If you are looking for a mission project as a family this Christmas,
Salvation Army has 500 families in need this year. The ACS Student Council will
be sponsoring one family this year as well. Items donated need to be to the
Salvation Army by Dec 15. For more information, please call the Salvation Army
at 826-1525.
