March 25

Hello ACS,
High School Plan Night is quickly approaching; it is scheduled for April 4 at 6:30 pm. This meeting is for all current 8th – 11th grade students and families. It is a vital meeting to discuss classes, grade point averages, college issues, etc. The administration and academic committee highly recommend all to attend.
In April, we will be having our week of testing. I wanted to take the time to explain a little more concerning this week, especially for our new families. During our testing days, we are only in school a half day; all students will be let out by lunch time.  For Kindergarten and First grade students, their teachers do testing in short periods of time during the regular school day; therefore, they will not be in school at all during this week. I mention this now so that family’s can plan childcare accordingly if needed. We will be sending out a letter soon to let you know of our exact time schedule for testing days. Also, our week of testing begins our Easter break. We will not be in school Friday, April 22 and Monday, April 25.

Chickens!: Each year Pettis County University Extension Center invites our school to participate in their “hatching chicks in the classroom” program. We keep an incubator in the awana room to allow the kids to watch the process. After the chicks have hatched we keep them about one week. We are looking for families who would be willing to take the chicks home permanently after hatching. If you are interested, please call the school office at 827-4700.

Family Club Fundraisers: The spirit cups fundraiser forms are due Monday, March 28. The family club will be introducing a new opportunity to raise funds for the school. On Wednesday, April 6, at 3:45 pm, there will be a parent meeting to discuss this new program. The program is scrip cards and can be found at www.glsrcip.com.
