Dear ACS Parents & Students,
What a great time we had at the carnival this year! The senior’s version of “Applewood Idol” was definitely a hit. Mr. Bergman did a great job rapping and who knew Mrs. Harshner could sing like an angel. The whooping and hollering could be heard 10 miles away when Mrs. Leon started salsa dancing during her song. Another new event this year was the Jail. For $1.00 a minute you could put your best friend, your parents, or your teacher in jail. Personally, I enjoyed my 5 minutes of confinement, it was quiet in there. And of course everyone enjoyed the Pie-In-The-Face contest. People were willing to pay $220 for new student Brady Herrington to get a pie! I’m thankful that the students saw fit to make sure Mr. Bergman got a pie and not me. Thanks to the Student Council and their advisors, Mr. & Mrs. Cloud. It was a fun evening for everyone and they were able to raise $1,300!
I also wanted to say “well done” to our staff of the Beacon. This issue was jam packed with information. Of course my favorite part was the letters to me on page 5. Thanks students! I really appreciate the kind things you said. I love you all! Yes, even the students whose letters were quickly shredded for fear I would see them. LOL. I do need to apologize though; I gave incorrect dates to Hannah when she interviewed me. I was the assistant principal under Mrs. Wedemeyer from Aug. 2002 – May 2005. Well the year isn’t over yet, and there are many more memories still to make.
With a thankful heart,
Mrs. Young
