Hello ACS Parents!
The Fund Raising Dinner is right around the corner. Thank you for all your hard work getting people to attend the event. Families that did not fill your table will be contacted by the office this week and combined with another family.
You will need to bring the following items for that evening:
A dessert to feed 8 people
8 Dinner plates
8 Dessert plates
8 Glasses & 8 Coffee Cups (mugs)
8 Forks, knives, spoons, & dessert forks
1 Casserole Dish for main course (has gravy on it)
2 Serving Bowls (potatoes & vegetable)
3 Serving spoons for above
The program will go something like this:
5:15 Parents to arrive and set table. Take information out of table envelope. Place white envelopes under each plate. Look for and greet guests as they arrive.
6:00 Welcome
6:05 Students will serve the meal. We will be serving family style so be sure that everyone gets serving dishes passed to them. When all of your guests have finished eating, pile dishes to one end of the table. (You will be bringing dishes home to wash). Serve your dessert.
6:45 Grade 6 performance
7:00 Testimonies
7:10 Guest Speaker – Dr. Shinkle
7:40 Mr. Boatright to talk about white envelopes. After your guests have returned their card to the envelopes, collect them and put in table envelope.
8:00 Closing prayer & dismissal. Escort guests out. Clean up table. Turn in table envelope.
A more detailed instruction letter will go out on Wednesday. Please ask your child for it when he/she gets home.
Praying for a successful event!

Absence Policy (in Student Handbook):
A. Parents are required to telephone the school by 9:00 a.m. when a child will be absent from school. Parents should make arrangements at
that time to get the Absentee Homework Assignment Sheet. Failure to notify the school of the student’s absence may result in no credit for classes that met on that particular day.
B. Students are allowed one school day for each school day they are absent to make up work. It is the student’s responsibility to see that work is completed and turned in.
C. If a student is sick on a Tuesday or Thursday, a note from the parent is required stating that the child was sick and could not do homework. The same homework make up policy applies.
D. Doctor’s notes may be required for students who are absent two or more days in a row.
E. Six or more absences in one semester will be considered excessive. Excessive absences may result in the student losing credit for the semester, the student being prohibited from finishing the current school year, and the student not being admitted to ACS the following year.
F. Any student who is absent from school during the school day due to illness may not participate in any extra-curricular activity that day.
Needs:
11Cent Project – The student council is raising money for the Missouri Military Family Relief Fund. Students are encouraged to bring in eleven cents (or more) to put towards the fund. We are having a competition – boys verses girls! Whoever brings in the most money by Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, wins the privilege of throwing a pie in the face of a student or teacher of the opposite gender. Students will have the opportunity to turn in money each day during Opening.
Prayer:
Prayer that our fund Raising dinner would be a success financially, we would help people to know and understand Applewood better, and that it would bring glory to God.
A praise that the varsity volleyball team won the Mid West Invitational Tournament in Wichita, Kansas this past weekend. Congratulations lady Mustangs!
