Week of October 19 - 23

Hi Families!
ACS hosted a varsity volleyball tournament this Saturday.  Our varsity lady mustangs did an exceptional job and took first place!  Our JV lady mustangs were asked to participate when a team was unable to attend due to sickness on their team.  The JVs gave a great effort and earned the sportsmanship award for their great attitude.  Congratulations to coach Lansing and Greer and the Lady Mustangs!

We have lots going on this next week with Red Ribbon activities and the Fund Raising dinner right around the corner.  Please be sure to read all the information carefully.

Have a wonderful fall week!
Mrs. Young

Fund Raising Dinner update.
Parents should be finalizing their invitation lists for the fund raising dinner.  Lists need to be into the office by this Friday.  We only do two fund raisers each year so it is essential that this event is a success.  A percentage of the money from the fund raising dinner goes toward scholarships for students and the majority goes into our operating budget.

Our guest speaker for the evening is Dr. Monte Shinkle.  Dr. Shinkle is the Senior Pastor at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri for over 17 years during which time the church has experienced substantial growth in attendance, influence.  He is known widely as an uncompromising biblical preacher with a ministry that extends beyond the local church through Take Heart radio and TV broadcasts.   He is a frequent revival preacher.  Monte and his wife Betty have four grown children and are spirited Kentucky Wildcat fans.  ACS is blessed to have Dr. Shinkle agree to come and speak.

We will have testimonies from parents, students, and teachers about how ACS has made an impact upon the lives of their family.  Grade 6 students will be doing a drama piece that evening (something to do with black lights according to Mrs. Leon).  High school students will be serving the meal.  It is going to be a great evening!

Gratitude:
Thanks to Mr. Backe for doing incredible job talking about life after high school and how to prepare starting in your Freshman year.  ACS is blessed to have a professional guidance counselor helping our students prepare for their future.

Thanks to Dr. Drenon for taking a day off from work to do eye exams for students in grades K – 12.  (Students who had the sports physical this summer got an exam then).  A half dozen students were identified as needing a full exam.

Thanks to Mr. Greer for taking the day off from work to do our school photos.  Everyone looked great on Friday (especially Duke)!  I am looking forward to seeing all those smiling faces in a special decoration that Mrs. Nelson is setting up for the fund raising dinner.

Thanks to Mrs. Marsh and the staff of the Beacon for a great school paper!
