Bulletin

Week of February 9 - 13

Dear ACS Families,
Valentine’s Day is a time set apart to remind those you care about that you love them.  Be sure to take the time to tell the people in your life what they mean to you.
Have a blessed week,
Mrs. Young

“This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:17

Send a friend a lollipop for Valentine’s Day!  The students going on the Boston Field Trip will be selling lollipops to be delivered on Friday, Feb. 13th.  The lollipops will sell for $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00, or 12 for $10.00.  Be sure to write a special message for us to attach.  Orders will be taken during Opening, Lunch, and Closing on Monday and Wednesday.  Parents can call in their order and send money into the office.

School wide Valentine’s Day party at Jesters on February 12th from 1:00 – 3:00.  Cost is $2.50/student.  Students will only have reading and math for homework so that they can attend the party.  Jesters is located on Hwy 65 South of Lincoln.  We are asking that each family bring a snack to share.  Students with last names beginning with A - M, please bring a healthy snack to share.  Those with last names beginning with N - Z, please bring a sweet snack.  The Family Club will provide drinks.  Parents  please contact Mrs. Young if your student is unable to attend.

Valentine’s Cards – On Friday, Feb. 13th the students will be exchanging Valentine’s Day cards with their friends and teachers.  Students are not required to send a card to every student in school but if they want to please have your student merely sign the cards and not address them to anyone in particular as it makes passing out the cards much easier.  An updated roster will be sent to your email address so that students know the correct spelling of the other students and teachers.  Students are welcome to bring treats for their friends on that day.

ACS Talent Show – Saturday, March 7.  Students performing at MAACS, and any student that has a talent that they want to share, please sign up on the green sheets posted on the CEL and ROC bulletin boards.

Need yearbook help.  Our yearbook staff Pam Meusborn & Gay Otten both have seniors this year and it is imperative that we have some parents of younger children involved this year learning the yearbook.  If they don't get any help this will be the last year for the yearbook.   Deadline for the yearbook is the end of February.  Work days are Feb. 9 & 16, right after school.

Have an excuse to eat out and help the Honduras Mission team!  The mission team going to Honduras are hosting a night where ACS families can come and have dinner and the mission team will benefit from the sales.  February 10th at Hardee's on BROADWAY from 4:00 - 8:00pm.  We will receive 20% of all sales.  Thanks to those who ate at Wendy’s last week!

Special Guests at Chapel – This Wednesday, Feb. 11, the Yelton Family of Warsaw will be our guest speakers.  The Yeltons have recently adopted a special needs child from Liberia, Africa and will be sharing their story.

Senior Recognition – Friday, Feb. 13th we will be recognizing the seniors on our basketball teams.  Come on out and see a Mustang basketball game and honor our 2009 seniors!

The office sent home “Consideration for Reapplication” forms on Jan. 23. This is for you to indicate whether or not you are interested in having your student return to ACS for the coming school year.  As of last week we still had not heard from half of our families.  Please return the form as soon as possible.  We use the numbers we get from these forms to plan for the following school year.  This form does not obligate you in any way.

ACS is now accepting applications for the 2009-10 school year.  If you know someone who is interested in ACS, please have them contact the office to set up a visit.  Applications can be downloaded from the web site.
