Bulletin

Week of January 26 - 30

Hello Parents,
It is that time of the year where we evaluate how we have been doing this year while getting ready for the next school year.  We will be sending home teacher surveys soon.  This is not an opportunity to complain about issues that you have not talked to your teachers about.  This is an opportunity to evaluate the teaching, the curriculum, and the environment of your students.
The office sent home “Consideration for Reapplication” forms on Friday. This is for you to indicate whether or not you are interested in having your student return to ACS for the coming school year.  Please return the form as soon as possible.  We are beginning to accept applications for students and teachers for the next school year as well.  If you know someone who is interested in ACS, please have them contact the office to set up a visit or better yet, invite them to come with you to the Carnival coming up.

Yours in Christ,
Pamela Young

Hot lunch forms for February due in by Monday, Jan 26.  Parents, please be sure that your kids will eat the meal they are signed up for.  We had Oriental Chicken Salad last week and I counted 23 students that either did not eat or ate very little of their lunch.  What a tremendous waste of food and discouragement for the seniors making the meal.  Also, I had a lot of hungry students in the afternoon.

Reminder for parents working the concession stand.  Students younger than 9th grade are not allowed to be in the kitchen with you.

Mustang Basketball – ACS basketball teams are doing great this year! Be sure not to miss seeing our Mustangs.  Varsity home games this Friday starting at 6pm.

Carnival Time!  Saturday evening at 6:00pm.  This is a night put on by the Student Council for ACS students and their families.  Come for dinner and to play.  There are games like the cake walk, football toss, not to mention that the Big Boy Bash is back!  There are special activities like face painting, the Moon bounce, and the pie-in -the-face competition.  We will have great food like homemade desserts and chili.  The special event of the evening is ACS seniors’ version of Fear Factor!  Invite friends and neighbors, everyone is welcome!  The majority of the proceeds will be going to the Honduras mission trip.  Help bring the message of the gospel to another country by having a night of fun for the whole family.

Pie-in-the-face Competition – Money is being collected for students and teachers to get a pie in the face during the Carnival.  Parents, please monitor the money your child brings in.  We don’t want anyone emptying their bank without mom & dad knowing.  It is a fun event, even for those who get the pie, I should know!

It is time to order the 2008-09 yearbook.  Order forms will come out this week.

Working Days for yearbook.  In order to get the yearbook ready for printing we need parents & students to help put it together.  Our first work day is scheduled for this Wednesday at 3:30 in the ROC.  If you like to scrapbook, this is a job for you!

Next prom committee meeting – Feb.19 at 6:00pm.  For all juniors and their parents.

Upcoming Events:

School wide Valentine’s Day party at Jesters on February 12th from 1:00 – 3:00.  Cost is $2.50/student.  Homework will be modified that day so students can attend the party.

School Talent Show – March 7.

Honduras Mission Trip – Students from grades 9 – 12 will be going to Honduras from March 14 – 21.  They will be doing a vacation bible school program for the students and working on a construction project as well. Students not going to Honduras will be involved in local mission work during that week.
