Week of Dec. 8 - 12

Hello Parents!
Two more weeks and Christmas break will be upon us!  Our Christmas program featuring the elementary students singing Christmas songs and performing their rendition of The Prince and the Pauper and the junior high’s production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer were wonderful!  Thanks to Mrs. Leon for all her hard work with the students.

With Christmas close by everyone is beginning to think of those people they want to be sure to remember.  Parents ask me every year what they can do to say “thanks” to the teachers.  Each year our teachers have asked parents to donate to a cause of their choice.  We will be doing that again this year, in lieu of teacher gifts.  I will have a couple teachers decide on the organization or the item that the donation will go to.

Announcements:

Mid term reports went out for student in grades 3 - 12.  Parents, please return the signed section to the office.

Please be sure to put in your students’ name in all of their outer clothing.  Jaden Harshner has been wearing a camouflage coat that is 2 sizes too big for him because someone took his coat and left theirs.  Please look your child’s outer clothing over, make sure it is theirs, and write their name inside.

We will have all the lost and found items over at the AWANA room.  Parents please look through these items as we are planning on taking them to Open door this week.  We had a woman’s long leather jacket size 14 left after the Feast.  We are also acquiring lots of holiday plates.

Props for Tom Sawyer.  Thanks to all those individuals that provided the props for our play.  Please pick them up Monday after school as we need to get the ROC ready for a wedding.

Meals on Wheels.  Our friends at Meals On Wheels have asked if ACS could help them out by delivering meals on Dec. 31st.  We will need 6 teams of a driver and helper (more are welcome) to be at the Meals office (2311 W. Main St.) at 10:15 am.  Contact the ACS office if you can help.

School Board Meeting changed to Monday, Dec. 6 at 6:30pm.  The agenda has been emailed to you.  Everyone is welcome!

Dec. 19 is Christmas party day at school.  School starts on time at 8:00am and ends at noon.  Students do not need to bring a lunch but we are asking each family to bring in a snack to share.  If your last name begins with A – M please bring in a sweat treat.  If your last name begins with N – Z please bring in a healthy snack (crackers & cheese, fruit, chex mix, etc.)  Homeroom moms need to prepare a craft or game for that day and need to be at school by 8:00.  Exchange gifts need to be brought to school Wednesday, Dec. 17.  Please put the name of the child the gift is intended for on the outside of the wrapping.

One Call.  We have initiated the One Call program for our school.  One Call will make it easier for us to get last minute messages out to our families.  Our One Call message begins “This is a message from Applewood Christian School.” Then there is a short pause and the recorded message begins.  Coaches and committee chairman have the ability to record their own messages.  Any other messages that need to be sent to a group of students, please contact the school office, they will take down the message and send it out.

Upcoming Dates:
Christmas Break - Dec. 20 - Jan. 4, back to School Jan. 5.
