Bulletin

Week Feb. 25 - 29

Hi ACS Families!     Our Homecoming celebrating 20 years of educating future Christian leaders went very smoothly despite the snow.  We recognized the seniors on the basketball team on Friday.  Saturday morning we welcomed 11 out of the 22 alumni back and gave them an update on what has been happening at Applewood.  Many of the students had fun at the games put on by the Family Club.  The weekend was complete with our first Homecoming dance!  The students looked very nice in their dress up clothes and a good time was had by all. J       Hopefully we are done with the flu bug around here.  Last week we had an average of 9 students out, 2 teachers, and one administrator. L The snow day gave us all a chance to take a badly needed rest.  Please remind your children to cover their mouths when they sneeze and cough, and keep their hands away from their faces. Mrs. Young

Yearbook – Thanks to the parents that came through and helped get the yearbook put together.  Also, thanks to Pam Meusborn and Gay Otten for the fourth year of putting together a great yearbook!  An order form will be going home with the students tomorrow to order the yearbook. It begins with PROM of '07, includes Kindergarten and Senior 2007 Graduations and then continues through this last school year ending with the Valentines Party.  The books are $18.00 each and your order and money must be in by Friday the 29th.

Students for hire - After spending this school year learning more about our great country, the 8th & 9th grade classes are continuing the tradition of taking an educational trip to Boston, MA, this spring.  They are in need of ways to make some money to offset their expenses.  If you know of a person or business that could use our services, in return for a donation, please have them contact Darla Lansing.

Spirit Day – Friday the basketball teams will be at a tournament.  To show our spirit, Friday will be RED day.  From your head to your toes, wear as much red as you can.

No school for grades 9 – 12 on Friday!  Due to the basketball tournament, grades 9 – 12 will not have school on Friday as the majority of the students will be gone.

Hotel Room for Tournament – Tomorrow is the last day for basketball players to reserve a hotel room for the Lebanon tournament.  If you are interested call Couch Crosier.

Sports Awards Night – March 7 at 7:00pm.  Basketball players from all teams and their families are invited to attend.  Please bring a dessert to share.

Dinner Theatre - Hello again Applewood family!  We are gearing up for another drama production scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2008.  This will be a dinner theatre titled “Uncle Phil’s Diner.”  The 9th and 10th graders will be the main actors along with help from the 6th, 7th and 8th graders as wait staff helping serve dinner.  The juniors and seniors from the Lifeskills’ class taught by Mrs. Crosier will be handling the preparation of that night’s menu.  This will be an Applewood event to share with our community, and we request your help by spreading the word and helping sell tickets, plus donating a few items for costuming and decoration.  Tickets will be going out next week along with promotional flyers and bulletin inserts for all the churches we represent.  Uncle Phil’s Diner takes place in 1956, so we encourage everyone to come dressed in their poodle skirts, pedal pushers, bobby socks, leather jackets and blue jeans, bowling or Hawaiian shirts, cardigan sweaters or letterman jackets, polka dotted skirts and colorful scarves.  This will be a fun family night of great diner food and 50’s style entertainment by the Desoto’s live band performers.
