Week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 1

Hi ACS Families!

We had a fun time at the Stuco (Student Council) Carnival this Saturday night!  Thanks to the Kjar family we added a new booth – the bowling game.  The gold fish were a hit again this year.  Mr. Boatright, Coach Crosier, Mrs. Eberly and Mrs. Blake proved that they could hold their own against our smart fifth graders in the ACS version of “Are You As Smart As a Fifth Grader”.  And the Pie-In-The-Face contest once again was a big money maker.  (We will post a total next week).  Thanks to Nate, Cleo, Raymond, Kinser, and Mrs. Thomas for being such good sports.  Hope you all got that pudding out of your hair!  The Carnival was not only a great time but it added to the funds the Student Council uses to go great things in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  For Christmas, the Student Council voted to put some of that money to adopting a family at the Show Me Christian Youth Home.  The following is an excerpt of the letter that they sent to the Student Council:

“Once again our hearts were touched by your love in action as a school and individually. . . Thank you for being a part of it all by reaching out so generously with your lovely gifts for the Watkins family.  It means so much to each of our young people that they are truly loved.”

We have posted the letter and the cards that the children wrote on the wall outside the office.  My thanks to the Student Council and their parents that worked in the concession stand.  You did a great job!

Fund Raising Dinner Total – The School Board had a meeting this last Monday.  We wanted everyone to know the total income (after expenses) from the Fund Raising dinner last November.  Our total was $8,444.10.  In addition to the monetary gain, we have had an increase in newspaper coverage (for our school and sports teams) since that night, as well as many more people asking about our school.  All in all it was a great success!

Consideration For Reapplication – Forms went out Friday with your students.  Please have them back as soon as possible as the school board is already making budget plans for next year.

Applications for next year – We are accepting applications for new students for the 2008-09 school year.

PLAN Test Meeting – There will be a meeting on Monday, Jan. 28 right after school in the youth room, for parents of students in grade 10 to discuss the results of the PLAN test.

For Your Info:  Mrs. Thomas wanted to pass on that soon telemarketers will have access to cell phone numbers.  In order to avoid these callers, dial
