Bulletin

Week of Nov. 19 - 21

Dear ACS Families,

The fund raising dinner was a marvelous success!  I was at the door thanking people for coming, as the guests were departing, and many of them had wonderful things to say about the event.

One guest had this to say about the performance by the junior high:  “WOW!”  Our thanks goes out to our wild and crazy drama teacher, Mrs. Leon for all her creativity and patience.  Thanks to Mrs. Blake for her drawings of the “body”.  And thanks to Rhiannon Crosier (gr. 10), our resident dancer, for choreographing the dance movements that looked so cool in the dark.  And of course, a big thanks to grades 6 – 8 for their hard work and willingness to perform.  It was amazing!

High school students, you did an excellent job serving!  Not a single broken dish.  I know the guests were as impressed as I was. J

Thanks to Mrs. Christopherson for running the kitchen.  For Mr. & Mrs. David Walker for doing the cooking and for Ethan Sarver & Nan Hutcheson for helping in the kitchen.  We are in Maplewood’s debt.

Thanks to Matt Boatright our MC and Jordan Liesemeyer, our alumni speaker.  You both did a great job!

Parents, thank you for the hard work of finding guests to attend, following up with them, setting your table, bringing dessert, being hosts for the evening, and praying for the event.  You made it enjoyable for those who attended.

Thanks to Debra Marsh for putting the event together and for the super pamphlet on ACS that we will be using for years to come.

And lastly, thanks to our Father in Heaven, who continues to provide for our every need.  I have not had a chance to look inside the envelopes and see how much we raised but I promise to have an update by the next bulletin.  I know that the dinner will bring ACS more than just monetary benefits.  Above all else I pray that the event glorified our God and Savior.

Annual Thanksgiving Feast – This Wednesday!  Performances begin at 11:30 and dinner is served at noon.  If you didn’t get to see the junior high performance of the “Body of Christ” Saturday night, now is your chance!  Room Moms, please be at school by 8:00.  Teachers, I need to know if you will not be in school that day or if you need to give a test.  Turkey cookers, please bring in the turkey cut up and ready to go that morning, as well as the drippings.  Students are dismissed as soon as their clean up chores are done.

No school Friday, November 23!

Christmas Gift Exchange – Tomorrow students will pick a name of the student they are to buy a gift for.  Please encourage your students to be excited about whosever name they pick.  Please stay within the monetary limits in buying gifts:  Elementary students $5.00, Junior High $7.00, and Senior High $10.00.

School Board Meeting – Tomorrow 7:00pm in the Green room in the ROC.  All parents are welcome.  To see a copy of the agenda:  click on All Blogs on the web page, then select School Board Agenda.

Teacher Meeting – After school Monday, Nov. 26.

Christmas Drama Rehearsals – A letter will be going home tomorrow with each of your students with a list of times for rehearsals for the next Tuesday and Thursdays.  (I have also emailed it home).  ALL STUDENTS will be involved in the Christmas performance and will need to make sure they attend their assigned practice time.  There are a lot of students to arrange, so please pay attention to your child’s time slot.  Dress rehearsal will be Dec. 13 from 10:00am – 1:00pm.

Play Opportunity for Everyone – The Sedalia Middle School children are putting on a rehearsal play of "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Liberty Center on Thursday, November 29, 10 a.m.  If you would like to go, please call Mrs. Tiehes (pronounced Tee ez) at 829-6534 for reservations, before Nov. 21.  Remember to mention you are from Applewood Christian School.  They are putting on the rehearsal play for the area schools only.  Admission is $2 per person.

Yours In Christ,

Pamela Young
