Dear ACS Families, I think yesterday was the longest day of my life but it was another first for Applewood Christian School. ACS hosted our first ever sports tournament. Six volleyball teams played from 8:00am until almost 8:00pm. It was a long day for the girls and their families. The great news was that the ACS Varsity Volleyball team won the second place position and the Junior Varsity team took home the Sportsmanship Trophy! As for the concession stand, the Family Club kept those girls and their fans fed for 12 hrs. We are all anxious to see how much funds the event brought in for our school. Thanks to Darla Lansing & Kathy Greer for getting it organized, Bill Lansing for organizing the officials and running the event, Gay Otten for keeping things moving in the concession stand, and for the parents who volunteered their time to line judge, keep books, run the clock, or work in the concession stand. What a great end to the volleyball season!
Fund Raising Dinner – As of yet, we have only had about 6 families turn in their guest list. Debbie Marsh will be contacting each family this week. It is essential that you get your guest list in this week! Most importantly, please be in prayer for the success of this event. We pray that this event will make a difference in the lives of many people in our community.
Soccer MAACS Tournament – Thursday, Nov. 1 to Sat., Nov. 3. Soccer players, be sure to talk with your teachers about work you will be missing. It will be due on Monday! Also, check Mr. Lansing’s blog for additional details.
Fall Sports Awards Event – Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:00pm. Players from all the ACS soccer and volleyball teams are invited to attend with their families and friends. We are asking that each family bring a dessert to share.
First Quarter Grades – This Wednesday marks the end of the first quarter. Students have all your work into your teachers by this time.
Parent Teacher Conferences – Monday, Nov. 12 at 6:00pm in the ROC. First quarter grade cards and student schedules will be available for parent’s to pick up that evening. This is an opportunity for parents to visit their child’s teachers and see how their child is doing in class.
Teacher Evaluations – Teacher evaluations for the parent’s to fill out were given to parents this week. Visit with your students about their classes and prayerfully consider your answers as you evaluate the overall education that your student is receiving this year. Please have them to the office by Nov. 5. Also, students will be given an opportunity to fill out their own evaluations this Wednesday in school.
PLAN test – Sophomores only Thursday, November 29 at 9:00A.M.
Student Council (Stucco) Meeting – Next Wednesday after school in the youth room.
SSLC Food Drive – The Student Council is in need of a bit of help this Monday at 4:00. As part of the Sedalia Student Leadership Council, ACS student council members will be joining with youth from Smith-Cotton and Sacred Heart in collecting canned food for Open Door Ministries. Our soccer players have an important practice for their upcoming tournament that evening. Junior High students who would be willing to help go door to door with the rest of the student council members, or would like to help box food as it comes in, would be greatly appreciated. Parents who are interested in driving would also be helpful. Last year it took the students about 2 hrs. If you are interested in helping tomorrow call/see Uriah.
Eye Screening – Dr. Liesemeyer will be doing eye exams on the students on Nov. 7.
School Photos – Mr. Greer will be doing school photos on Nov. 7.
