͏ Mt. Vesuvius erupted without warning, burying Pompeii under volcanic stones, boiling water, and ash

͏ 3 days the area was covered in flames, lightning, smoke, & poisonous clouds

͏ ~2,000 of Pompeii’s 20,000 residents were trapped or suffocated

Ѳ For over 1,600 years (until 1748), Pompeii lie forgotten

Ѳ People were highly artistic, interested in farming & fishing, merchants, cobblers, bakers, surgeons

Ѳ People scratched messages & announcements on the walls of their city
