9th Grade Geography:  Read pages 240-242 and answer the following questions.

                Geography Chapter #10 (pg. 240-242)

1) What is the greatest river system in the world? What are its great states shared in your book?

2) What is a selva?

3) What are some exotic animals that live in the Amazon?

4) What significant piece of furniture was invented by Amazon Indians?

5) What is slash-and-burn agriculture? 

6) What unique instruments do they use for hunting purposes in the Amazon?

7) How many states were formed in the Amazon?

8) What is leaching?

9) What is deforestation?

 

10th Grade Grammar:  Study for your Spelling Test #16 that we will have Friday. I will be emailing you the Grammar Quiz that you need to take before Friday. Also do the following exercises in your book pgs. 246-248 (246--Ex.;  247--Ex. A, B, C;    248--Ex. D, E) We will grade these exercises on Friday in class.  

 

10th Grade Chemistry:  Remember that the worksheet I gave to you on Monday I wanted you to try your best on everything; but if you weren't' confident circle them and we can go over them Friday. I am emailing the Study Guide for Test #7 to you, this needs to be done by Friday. Remember I don't grade this for accuracy but I check it for completion. I want you to attempt and do your best with the questions and we will go over them Friday and next Monday. The test won't be till next Wednesday.  

 

Government:  I will email you your test to take at home. I sent the answers to the study guide home with you in an envelope so you could study with the correct answers. Don't' change the answers on your study guide, I need you to bring your study guide with you Friday so that I can get a grade from it. 

 

11th Grade Anatomy:  Read over pages 208-215 and answer the following questions.

              Anatomy/Physiology Module #7 pg. 208-215 

1) Define action potential, excitability, and potential difference. 

2) What does “at rest” mean? What do you need to remember during resting potential?

3) What is the sodium-potassium exchange pump?

4) What are the two things you need to know to understand action potential?

5) What are polarization, depolarization and repolarization?

 

9th Grade Botany/Zoology:  Read over pages 205-213 and answer the following questions.

1) What do histones act as in DNA?

2) What do we call the “beads on a string”?

3) Define chromosome

4) What do we call the “dumbbell” shape of a chromosome? 

5) Define mitosis. What is another way to say mitosis?

6) What are the 5 main stages of mitosis?

7) What is often called the cell cycle?

8) What two things must happen for a cell to start asexual reproduction? 

9) Define mother cell.

10) What shape is commonly used to represent chromosome? 

11) Which phase of mitosis does the major difference occur between plant and animal cells?

14) What is the sex chromosome called for males and females? 

15) Define karyotype.
