For this week we will be doing the following things in Reading and Number Skills. Please adjust to your own schedules and work as time allows:

READING: We are on our last book in reading, and should be through all of the Phonic Stories! Please practice this last book, as it is an overview of the sounds your student has learned this year. As for the Phonic Stories, please read the last 5-6 stories for greater comprehension of our new word families. One day please have your child pick out their favorite stories from their folder and read them to you. On Friday, please read a new story to your student, and then question them for comprehension of what they heard. It is important to understand, as well as read!

Number Skills: If you have not already done so, do pages 159-164. Our book is finished! Hooray for the students and parents!

As the final assignment for our Kindergarten year, I have given you the packets containing the personal Newspaper for each student. Please help and encourage them as they fill out this booklet, and place in the clear file folder that came with it. I hope they will enjoy making these as a keepsake for their Kindergarten year!

As you read, see if you find any evidence of crimestop, black-white or doublethink in modern society. Orwell said of his book NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR: "I don't believe that the kind of society I describe will arrive, but I believe something resembling it could arrive." The moral of this book is, "Don't let it happen. It depends on you"

In this selection (pp. 485-487) one of Screwtape's primary tactics is to get humans to incorrectly view what "reality" is. In both letters, thwarting the designs of the Enemy (God) is forefront in Screwtape's mind. Answer questions.

Read "The Bible--Independent of All Other Books", pages 358-359.

The Greek classics studied in this unit helped to point the world to the Bible. The Greek writers were usually moral and their writings were often based upon biblical principals, but they did not know the one true God. (Their light of knowledge was just a "flickering light.") Only the Bible has stood the test of truth for all ages and truly points man to God.

DO NOT FORGET AUTHOR PAPERS ARE DUE ON TURN-IN DAY.

Sermons and devotional verse are an important part of American Literature because they can be appreciated not only for their artistic merit but also for their spiritual value. The sermons span three hundred years--from colonial America to the twentieth century. The styles vary greatly but the truth of God's Word is the same.

I have decided to continue on in the assignments, I will not be posting a chapter test. As we all know in our assignments we have continuous review of our previous lessons. To compensate for test credit I will designate problems in assigned work that will be for test credit.
